Who Will Be the New Legends?

The title of legend is all we really care for.

NOTE: it has been a while since I last posted on this very site.  I am using the Small Medium Army Central format I was taught in this post.  If you do not like it I promise to change my ways next time.  This is an OPINION POST.  Count it as philosophy or whatever you may.

Let’s take a minute for an introduction of myself.  My name here is Mchappy (or Icey Cold27, whatever).  I have worked here on Club Penguin Army Central multiple times prior, and I’ve done many things in this fabulous community including leading multiple top five armies.  I’m the new editor in chief in town.  Hopefully this experience will be my last huzzah in armies.

As newbies, climbing the ranks of armies, we have one goal in mind.  Maybe two.  To get that leader spot and to be the biggest legend the world has ever seen.  Despite that not being so practical, a few will actually get to that point.  All it takes is pure dedication and desire.  However, as time goes on and armies change- it might not be you- but the army that gets you there.  2012 was without a doubt a huge year for armies.  Legendary armies were falling (example, ACP and Nachos) whilst newer armies were rising from their ashes (example, Golden Troops and Pirates).  As these new armies, or armies being reborn, are continuing to rise above the rest, our eyes avert to these leaders.  Once upon a time, the legends-to-be were those of the top three: ACP, IW, and Nachos.  This is shown in the recent awards hosted by CPAC.

In CP armies, the legends are the people we look up to.  Or those who, if still around, are the ones to watch out for whom will change the playing field.  The first armies that come to mind who have recently changed the community are Light Troops and Pirates.  It might not be for the better, but these guys definitely had an impact on how armies function today.  Whether you like it or not.  As a past ACP leader I can talk from experience when checking up on these two were an important part of the day.  The Black Alliance and every other kind of shenanigan influenced other armies into an endless cycle of war.  Think of it as a cult– you will follow your leader no matter what the cost.  At one point or another, recognition is going to be given.

Instead of the older armies who stored potential to be a generally known legend, we have moved on.  Primarily because it is exciting.  We’re not exactly sure what these incoming armies will do next.  We’ve seen with the ‘oldies’ that they fall into a pattern of how they behave with certain situations, who looks over them, and what their sizes are.  Now by no means should we tie down new successors of these ‘oldies’ to their past, but we do.  It’s just a human instinct.

I’ve decided that by now you’re probably getting bored, so to add onto it I added in some opinions from people in armies.  No one was really on at the top so don’t hate me for their responses.  I asked Khimo, Dark Warriors‘ leader, what he looked for in a legend.  He replied with, “A legend needs to do something that either no one has done before or that has been done rarely and has somewhat of an impact on armies.”  I followed up asking him what army in the top ten really stands out because they are unpredictable and exciting.  After some thinking he said, “Basically almost all of the newer armies that hit top three because, without them things would stay the same with Nachos and, kind of, ACP on top.”  Along with Khimo, I asked Obesrst, former Nacho leader, the exact same questions.  His answers, “A legend to me is someone who has really done crap that gets noticed in the community; for example, like Person1233.”  Obesrt strongly believes in a legend is someone who has stayed in the community for a long time and helped build it.  His perspective on the second question was great, “Pirates.  They rose quite a bit this week to like fourth or something.  I guess they could be exciting since they are quite controversial.

I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time now.  As Khimo stated about the top three in his interview, two of the top three are semi-newer armies, Army Republic and DW.  People in this community have been fighting for a change.  A change of positioning in the top ten, who makes the calls, and I’m sure much more.  Though I believe that transition has already occurred under our noses.

What is YOUR opinion?  Who are the legends of this current generation?  What do you look for in a legend?  Let us know in the comments below!

    But no. ACP lovers vote idiots like Kingfunks, just because he leads the ACP, even though he led them to their lowest point and almost killed the army including their USA division.

  13. A true legend doesn’t care if they’re on the legends page. I see all these fools going out of their way to get votes for legend, and they look ignorant. Here’s my opinion;
    Armies such as SWAT, LT, DW, DCP, GT, they die every month. Then, a leader decides to revive them. They make such a huge deal out of it that everyone wants to join, and it dies within at least a month. The people who lead armies that die constantly shouldn’t be legend. People who lead an army like Nachos, Pirates, ACP, Ice Warriors, AR, MW, UMA, RPF, to huge consistent sizes should be legends. It takes a whole lot more skill to lead those armies than the armies that constantly keep dying off and returning.
